With reference to the above subject, and guided by the fundamental principles of humanity as well as the international and regional legal instruments governing the treatment of detainees and prisoners, the Sudan Human Rights Association (SHRA) respectfully submits this official request.
Our organization has been closely monitoring, with profound concern, the increasing field and medical reports documenting the deteriorating humanitarian, health, and living conditions inside Daqris Prison (formerly known as Kheir Islah Prison) located west of Nyala City. The testimonies and available information indicate that detainees and prisoners are facing serious challenges that require urgent intervention to safeguard their physical and psychological well-being.
In fulfillment of our humanitarian and human rights mandate, the Sudan Human Rights Association (SHRA) respectfully requests the following:
Immediate and unconditional authorization for an official SHRA delegation, in coordination with relevant committees and humanitarian and human rights organizations, to gain direct access to Daqris Prison.
Permission for independent human rights and medical teams to conduct on-site assessment visits inside the prison facilities and directly evaluate the health and living conditions of all detainees and prisoners without restriction.
Access to official records and the opportunity to review and document the conditions of all detainees—including civilians, military personnel, and women—in accordance with the standards of International Humanitarian Law and internationally recognized human rights principles.
Your prompt cooperation in facilitating this visit would constitute a significant demonstration of transparency, accountability, and humanitarian responsibility. It would also contribute to ensuring the timely delivery of urgently needed humanitarian and medical assistance aimed at protecting lives and preserving human dignity.
We look forward to your official response and to identifying the appropriate mechanisms for coordinating and facilitating the mission of the human rights delegation.
