On Saturday, May 17th, 2025, we—Sudan Human Rights Association (SHRA)—stood face to face with over 200 Sudanese refugees in Cluster C of the Kiryandongo Refugee Camp. We didn’t come with cameras or headlines. We came to listen.
What we heard broke our hearts—but it also reignited our mission.
These are people who fled unimaginable violence—families who left behind homes, businesses, dreams, and loved ones. Today, they live in makeshift shelters, still searching for the safety, dignity, and hope they deserve.
The Silent Battles They Fight Each Day
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
— Edmund Burke
In a quiet but emotional gathering, men and women courageously shared the pain they’ve been carrying:
- Armed robberies have made the camp unsafe, both day and night. Children tremble at every strange sound, and families fear for their lives even in broad daylight. Despite repeated pleas for help, no security solution has arrived.
- Mothers spoke of their sick children—some with malaria, others weakened by malnutrition and diarrhea. There are few clinics, almost no medication, and a heartbreaking lack of mental health support. Many are still haunted by what they saw back home in Sudan.
- Education—once a symbol of hope—has become a distant dream. Tuition fees have made school unreachable for many children, forcing them to wander, idle and vulnerable.
And beyond all this was a recurring plea: “Please, don’t forget us.”
Our Promise to Them—and to You
SHRA was founded to stand in the gap—to fight for the rights of the vulnerable and speak where others remain silent. In Kiryandongo, we reaffirmed that promise.
We shared our vision, our mission, and our commitment: to advocate for these voices at both national and international levels, to restore dignity, and to provide practical solutions. From legal aid and peace-building to trauma counselling and basic services, we will walk with them. But we cannot do this alone.
Where You Come In

This isn’t just a report—it’s a call to action.
These families are not just numbers. They are mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters who once lived full lives—now reduced to survival. And yet, they have not given up hope. Neither will we.
Your support can help us:
- Provide access to healthcare, medication, and mosquito nets
- Support school tuition for children and youth
- Run trauma-healing and psychosocial programs
- Train community leaders in human rights and protection
- Advocate for resettlement and policy-level change
Every gift, no matter the size, is a step toward restoring hope where it has been lost.
You Can Help Us Turn Their Cries Into Change
In a world full of noise, thank you for choosing to listen.
